September Monthly Round Up

Hey foodies! September is a super exciting month here at Auckland Food Truck Collective—it’s our third birthday (more on that later!), the return of a few favourite street food events and the beginning of some new ones. September always feels like the kick-off of street food season and we can’t wait for you to find out what we’ve got planned over the next few months. But first, here’s what’s coming up in September:

Food Truck Fridays at Britomart

Takutai Square, weekly on Friday 11.30am - 2.30pm

That’s right—after a brief winter hiatus everyone’s favourite inner city food truck stop is back! As the weather starts heating up (fingers crossed), take some time away from your desk and pop out in the sunshine for a bite to eat. Leave those soggy sandwiches in the fridge and feast on the likes of Double Dutch Fries, Temaki Truck, Ola’s Latin Food and more. If you work or study in the city, round up your crew and head down to Takutai Square in Britomart for some sweet street food. We switch up the vendors every week so you’re sure to find something that tickles your taste buds. This week (20th) we have some new faces to Takutai Square, Toasted As, Miso Ra, Brotisserie and Sweet As Crepes

Check our events page for more info!

Te Atatu Night Market

Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre, Friday 20th September, 5 - 9pm

We couldn’t be more stoked to announce the return of the Te Atatu Night Market after the winter months. With an amazing selection of crafts, artisans, makers, food trucks and street food stalls there’s so much to see, buy and—most importantly—eat! Te Atatu is definitely a favourite market amongst the street food family so be sure to check it out this month. The Te Atatu Night Market will be a regular occurence, taking place on the third Friday of every month all the way through to March 2020 (or just check our events page for the dates!) This season, we’re mixing things up a little and introducing Stallholder and Food Truck of the Month to encourage buying local and supporting small businesses. As entrepreneurs ourselves we want to create platforms for other business owners to share their passions and talents. For the month of September, AFTC is raising awareness for Blue September and there will be fundraising buckets onsite, so please bring along some cash to support this vital cause. We can’t wait to see you there, it’s going to be a good one!

Plus we are kicking off the start of the Te Atatu Spring Festival - a day filled of fantastic activities for the whole weekend! On Saturday 21st of September, organisers have put together a fantastic day featuring a wide variety of different workshops and classes, a great chance to try something new or learn a new skill plus Family Gala Saturday 10-2pm. Visit their Facebook page for all the event info.

Point Chevalier Night Market

Point Chevalier Community Centre, Friday 4th October, 4.30 - 8.30pm

Although not technically part of our September line up, we’re so excited to be involved with this market that we figured we’d give you a heads up! Come along to experience some of Auckland’s finest food trucks, such as The Rolling Pin and Temaki Truck, as well as live music and great community vibes. This event is perfect for families as there will also be a kids play area and face painting available. Take a look at the event page for the full line up!
